The final track of the album, 'You Never Know' is about persistence, resilience and coming to terms with impermanence. The life stories that inspired this song are too personal for me to discuss here but I can describe generally. The first half of the song is saying to never give up because what you were searching for may only be one step away. The second half of the song has two points. One, personal disasters may and will happen. This is an unavoidable aspect of life. Two, these disasters may be you're greatest gift. They say that the traumatic event itself does not affect your happiness in the long run, its how you react to it. Never underestimate your ability to change yourself and the world. Even one small act of kindness could drastically change the trajectory of many lives. With all the crap in this world and tragedies that may befall us, all that we can do is move from a place of compassion, take responsibility for our actions and simply try.
lyrics
If it seems like
its the end of the line
and you feel like giving up.
If you dream
of ways to end it all,
to release from this body
Listen to me now.
I'm speaking personal experience.
You may only be only one day away
from meeting the person
who could change it all.
You will never know the way I feel
if you never try.
You never know
This may be the last time
you look into her eyes.
This may be the last time
you say goodbye.
Your whole world could fall apart
right in front of you.
You never know
Happiness
is a glimmer of light
in the dark.
You never know
You may change the world
with just one
act of kindness.
All your tragedies
could be your greatest gift
You have everything that you need
right now.
You will never live out your dreams
If you never try.
